Formal presentation of a legislative resolution recognizing Caregiving Youth Day in the State of Colorado.
Lawmakers will acknowledge caregiving youth—children and adolescents who provide ongoing care for family members with chronic illnesses, disabilities, aging-related needs, or serious health challenges—while balancing school and personal development.

WHY:
Colorado data show that 20.4% of middle school students and 12.5% of high school students report caregiving responsibilities at home, with rates as high as 31% in some districts. Caregiving youth often remain unidentified within existing systems despite carrying significant family responsibilities.

Caregiving Youth Day formally acknowledges this often-invisible population and encourages greater awareness and understanding across education, health, and policy sectors.
